The U.S. Supreme Court is expected to make a decision in King v. Burwell next month. The lawsuit challenges the Affordable Care Act provision for the federal government providing tax credit subsidies in states that don’t operate their own health insurance exchanges.
Should the Supreme Court rule in favor of the plaintiffs, millions of Americans will no longer have health insurance subsidies. As a result, many low- and moderate-income people will not be able to afford insurance.
