Check out who joined StartUp Health Academy’s latest cohort

The digital health companies include a remote monitoring service for physical therapy, a healthcare matchmaking program that connects patients based in China with U.S.-based physicians, and a start-up that wants to accelerate medical research.

StartUp Health has added ten companies in the latest Academy cohort. The digital health companies include a remote monitoring service for physical therapy, a healthcare matchmaking program that connects patients based in China with U.S.-based physicians, and a company that wants to accelerate medical research.

They join the 236 companies that have been a part of StartUp Health Academy since its inception.

Here’s an overview of the businesses based in part on StartUp Health’s blog post, info from the companies’ websites.

Advice Coach is a physical therapy business that helps patients recover from home. It produces a set of videos by the patient’s physical therapist performing the exercises to help each individual recover from a procedure or that has been developed for their care plan. Patients receive reminders when it’s time to exercise, click on the app and that triggers the videos, which patients watch and do themselves.  The cofounders of the Woodbridge, Connecticut business include CEO Susannah Bailin and CTO Nan Xiao.

FitTrace is described as a start-up focused on athletes which has developed a way to give them an advanced analysis of body composition. The goal is to provide another layer of insight for athletes to help them optimize performance. The Los Angeles-based business was founded by Michael DiChiappari who previously constructed a web-based bone density reporting tool for DXA-based bone densitometry for Cardea Technology.

LucidAct is a care coordination start-up that developed a virtual team assistant, using machine learning to collect relevant clinical information and integrate it with patient logistics. The cofounders of the xxx-based business are CEO Grace Chen, a former program director at Sutter Health and Stanford Cancer Center,  and CTO Cheong Ang who has served as a tech lead of IBM Software Group and consultant of IBM Healthcare/Life Sciences.

Mealshare wants to cut obesity by creating a communication and engagement app that also seeks to help dieticians add more patients by helping them remotely monitor clients’ food habits.  Based in Cardiff, California, the business was founded by Bentley Adams who previously. Prior to Mealshare, Adams served as president for the healthcare division of the internet marketing agency Elevated.

Medebound is a bilingual telehealth program that pairs patients in China facing a serious diagnosis with medical specialists in the U.S. The start-up, founded by Sheena Liu, partnered with three of the largest insurers in China, which cover Medebound’s services to their clients.

Omnia Salud, a Buenos Aires-based business, seeks to support the adoption of electronic health records, and digitize billing and scheduling healthcare tasks. Founded by Matias Spanier, the software platform is currently being used by some of the largest healthcare providers in Argentina, such as Swiss Medical Group and Galeno.

Path Surgery is a medical tourism business founded by Robert Rantapere and Antti Mauno. It connects patients with healthcare providers in Finland. The company claims to organize each step in the clinical and non-clinical parts of the journey from helping patients prepare for the procedure through recovery.

PSYCHeANALYTICS wants to integrate behavioral health into primary care by collecting structured data for assessments of a variety of mental health conditions. The company has developed a clinical decision support tool to reduce and improve the management of chronic conditions and triage patients to provide the most effective treatments available at the clinics where they are treated.

Salubris Analytics uses a mobile behavioral health app that combines behavioral psychology and game design to provide adaptive, personal coaching to build critical skills. Through a customizable platform, organizations can tailor each coaching program to provide their patients with condition-specific guidance and emotional support.

Sanguine Biosciences founders Gerald Lee and Brian Neman want to put patients in charge of their health data to accelerate medical research. The company cultivates patient communities with individuals from patient advocacy platforms, physician referrals, and social media to accelerate the R&D process. Sanguine is currently working with Pfizer and other big pharma companies to trim clinical trial time.
